Redefining Adaptive Surfing Through Craftsmanship and Vision

At Soulcraft Wake Surf, we believe every rider deserves the freedom and exhilaration of carving the perfect wave. Our mission is simple: create boards that meet the unique needs of every athlete, regardless of their challenges. Through a combination of custom wake surf boards, expert craftsmanship, and an unwavering commitment to inclusion, we’re proud to lead the way in adaptive wakesurfing.

Crafting a New Wave of Possibilities

In our Oceanside workshop, precision meets passion. Every board we create reflects a dedication to innovation and performance. For adaptive athletes, we push even further, designing boards that deliver unparalleled stability, responsiveness, and tailored customization.

Our process begins with a simple question:

  • How can this board enhance the rider’s connection to the wave?

From there, we consider every detail:

  • Safety without compromising performance.
  • Function without sacrificing freedom.

The answers demand a mix of technical expertise, creativity, and empathy. At Soulcraft, this balance ensures our boards empower riders to achieve their best on the water.

Logan Walker: The Vision Beyond Sight

Among our many inspiring stories is Logan Walker, who lost her vision but never her passion for the water. In 2022, she joined Arizona Adaptive Water Sports (AAWS) through the Arizona Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired, reigniting her competitive spirit.

Logan’s first competition at Lake Pleasant was just the beginning. She went on to become the first blind athlete to qualify for the Centurion World Wake Surfing Competition in Fort Worth, Texas. Her success is a testament to determination and the power of the right support system.

“It felt incredible to be the first blind athlete to compete in Worlds,” Logan says. “But it feels even better knowing I am helping pave a new path for not just other blind athletes but any differently abled person to join competitive adaptive sports.”

Logan’s journey with Soulcraft has been defined by clarity and joy. “I may be blind, but my vision feels so much clearer out on the water when I’m wakesurfing.”

Kim Kolstad: The Drive for Independence

For Kim Kolstad, wake surfing represents more than just a sport; it’s a step toward independence. After discovering adaptive wake surfing, she quickly demonstrated her potential, earning third place in the adaptive division of a world competition. However, her progress was limited by an ill-fitting board.

That’s when Jo Crawford from AAWS connected Kim with Soulcraft. We meticulously designed a custom wake surf board that catered to her unique needs, creating a board that allowed her to unlock her full potential.

“Since receiving my custom Soulcraft board, my skills have taken off,” Kim says. “Now, the possibilities feel limitless. I’m eager to compete again and strive to become one of the world’s best female prone surfers.”

Jordan Koeninger: A New Level of Surfing

For adaptive surfer Jordan Koeninger, finding the right equipment was a challenge—until Soulcraft stepped in. We designed a board tailored specifically to his style, delivering unparalleled performance.

“I’ve always had to hack and repurpose regular surfing equipment,” Jordan explains. “Soulcraft changed everything. They created a board just for me, and it’s been huge.”

With his custom board, Jordan competed in the 2023 Wild West Wake Surf Comp, taking first place. “The Soulcraft family has taken care of me, and I’m super grateful.”

Building a Brighter Future

Logan, Kim, and Jordan’s stories reflect the power of partnership and innovation. At Soulcraft, we’re proud to work with organizations like AAWS and the High Fives Foundation to expand opportunities for adaptive athletes. Our commitment to inclusivity drives us to continuously refine our designs, ensuring that every rider—regardless of ability—can experience the joy of wakesurfing.
